Sven Eklof

After graduation, I headed west and attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana and graduated in 69 with a B.S. Business Admin and Economics. Joined the Navy and served 20 years as a line officer, driving surface ships and retired in 1990 as a Lieutenant Commander. During my last three years in uniform, I obtained a Masters degree in Marketing. Settled in Bremerton, Washington and spent a couple of years in the private sector before rejoining the Federal government as a civil servant dealing with oil spills and hazardous material response for the Navy in the Northwest. Became a football referee to contribute to the local high schools and community. Also served as a volunteer in Seattle in helping put on Seafair hydro races on Lake Washington and coordinating Fleet week and Blue Angel appearances. Served as a the head coordinator for 1700 volunteers for the men's Final Four in Seattle in 1995. Have been married to my wife, Jean for 36 years. We have two daughters, Erika and Svea. In June of 2005, Svea married John Crimes and gave us two grand kids, Hampton and Charlotte Jane (CJ). Erika is the Catering Sales Manager at the Greenville, SC Hyatt. At present I am with the Navy Facility Engineering Command serving as the environmental compliance coordinator for all Navy Reserve Centers in the Northwest. This will be my last year as I intend on retiring for a second and final time in May 2009. Plans are to move to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in order to be closer to the grand kids. Future plans are to do some cruising, fly fishing, traveling , obviously enjoy the grand kids and hope to catch up with a number of class mates and shipmates.
